We use your data to provide the CalorieScan service: analyzing food images, tracking your meal history, and managing your subscription. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely on servers located in South Africa and the EU. We use industry-standard encryption and security practices to protect your information. Food images are stored temporarily for analysis and may be retained for service improvement purposes.

4. Third-Party Services

We use Paystack for payment processing and Google Gemini AI for food recognition. These services have their own privacy policies and handle your data according to their terms.

5. Your Rights

6. Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.

Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By signing up for and using CalorieScan SA, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2. Subscription & Billing

CalorieScan SA costs R39 per month, billed monthly via Paystack. Your subscription automatically renews each month unless you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your account settings or by contacting support.

3. Refund Policy

All payments are final and non-refundable. If you cancel your subscription, you will retain access until the end of your current billing period.

4. Service Availability

We strive to keep CalorieScan SA available 24/7, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may perform maintenance or updates that temporarily affect availability.

5. Accuracy of Information

CalorieScan SA uses AI to estimate nutritional information. While we aim for accuracy, results are estimates and should not be considered medical or dietary advice. Always consult a healthcare professional for personalized nutrition guidance.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree to use CalorieScan SA only for lawful purposes. You may not abuse, harass, or attempt to reverse-engineer the service. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

7. Limitation of Liability

CalorieScan SA is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to health outcomes, data loss, or service interruptions.

8. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

9. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of South Africa.
